Leadership is not about your title. Leadership is about being present.
Being present means paying attention.
Being present means checking in.
Being present means uplifting those around you.
People burn out because no one sees their exhaustion.
Even smart, brilliant, committed professionals can lose their spark — not from lack of skill or will — but from carrying too much alone. And too often, they are praised for their productivity, but their pain and their struggles are ignored.
As leaders, more is required.
We must create a safe space for people to exhale. We must be present.

Ask “How are you?” and mean it. Then, stop and listen to the response. Give people your attention. Stop reading emails. Close your laptop. Look them in the eyes while you are listening to them. Yes, even during meetings and presentations.

“Leadership is not about being in charge.

It is about taking care of those in your charge.”

How are you leading? Are you building cultures where strength and vulnerability can stand side by side? Where no one has to pretend to be okay to be respected?
